C-suite leaders look up to their HR counterparts for hiring and retaining talent and developing a people strategy per the organisation's goals.

Successful HR leaders are perennially seeking opportunities to learn, unlearn and relearn. It opens the doors to wisdom, and knowledge not just of their field but also of operating businesses in general. They like to stay abreast with the latest inventions and new initiatives that other organisations are launching.

They understand that looking at HR in silos is not going to manifest any concrete results. They work closely with business leaders to comprehend the challenges and opportunities of their ecosystem. There is a palpable thirst of keeping up with the latest surveys, research and trends in the HR world. Not only this, they drive a similar propensity towards learning in their HR teams.

Excellent interpersonal skills

At the core of it, HR is all about people and building relationships. An HR leader can only think of new people-related initiatives and programs in theory without the support of cross-functional teams. Moreover, they demonstrate a behaviour that is in-line with the values that an organisation promotes. 

They tend to lead when it comes to displaying those values in their day-to-day decisions and the way they conduct themselves. Their commitment is so unwavering that they do it despite their personal and professional goals, and that's what makes them truly exceptional.

Take their metrics seriously

Successful HR leaders consider data as their friend when it comes to making crucial decisions. Whether it is about sourcing candidates, shortlisting them, retaining employees or launching training programs; HR leaders use metrics to devise their strategies.

Successful leaders know how data can help them in getting buy-in for significant decisions from business leaders. They drive a data-driven culture in their teams and encourage them to use the power of data to their advantage. 

HR leaders also take a keen interest in technology to get meaningful information from raw data. They invest in the right technology to reduce the manual efforts of their teams and move them in a strategic direction.

Problem-solving attitude

One of the many reasons behind the success of HR leaders is their crisis management attitude. The HR function is regularly resolving conflicts between managers and their teams, handling grievances, managing legal and compliance issues. Having a solution-oriented is a must for them to fix the issues at hand and move on. Successful HR leaders are good listeners and take time to understand both sides of the problem. Moreover, they ensure that the ethics code of their organisation is not compromised at any point. They tend to adopt an objective attitude to ensure they make fair decisions. Furthermore, they go a step beyond to spot initial warning signs and take preventive actions. 

HR professionals who demonstrate these abilities are certain to shine early on and make an impact in their fields of work.

While looking at the Dam and Canyon is from above, to see the true beauty of the river, you have to go down. The Colorado river is excellent for river-rafting and water sports, but you do not have to take part if it is not your thing. Instead just sit back and enjoy another of nature’s marvels.

Who can not resist going to one of the old towns like those in the Western gun slinging movies? Your destination needs to be Old Nevada. There you can delight in an old western town right in the middle of Red Rock Canyon. They host western shootouts too so come prepared, partner! I could go on and on about other attractions like the theme park in Circus Circus, the Gilcrease Nature Sanctuary, the Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve and Mt. Charleston but I think you get the picture. In Las Vegas and hate gambling? Do not despair. Just go out and have some clean un-gambling fun.
